The House With Clocks in Its Walls (release date Sept. 21, 2018) Directed by: Eli Roth is  an American film director, producer, writer and actor. He is more associated with the  horror genre. Some movies he has directed are, ‘Inglourious Basterds”, “The Green Inferno”, “Hostel”,  and“Knock Knock”. . .The House with Clocks in its Walls  is based on a juvenile fiction book in 1973 by John Bellairs. The actors that star in this movie are Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Owen Vaccaro, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Sunny Suljic and Kyle MacLachlan.
The House with Clocks in its Walls is a very magical,  adventurous, comedy. The story follows a 10 year old boy named Lewis (Owen Vaccaro), who  loses both of his parents has to go live with his uncle Jonathan (Jack Black). After witnessing abnormal activity around the house, Lewis  eventually discovers that his uncle is a warlock.. Since Lewis doesn’t have many friends he calls on his uncle to bring to  life a wizard who turns out to be evil. The remainder of the plot deals with Jonathan and Lewis stopping the trouble they brought. They have to stop the evil wizard and his wife before they change everything from the past.
I really enjoyed watching The House with Clocks in Its Walls because it was very entertaining. Some scenes of the movie were magical and the actors were very believable. In my opinion I think the actors did a spectacular job. I would rate this movie a B.

Crazy Rich Asians (2018) was released August 17, 2018 to theaters nationwide based on the book called Crazy Rich Asians by. This movie was directed by Jon M. Chu, an American director and has also directed many other famous movies like Step up 2, Now You See Me 2, and Justin Bieber’s Believe. Crazy Rich Asians is the first American film with an all Japanese cast.
The movie stars Constance Wu as Rachel Chu and Henry Golding as Nick Young in the roles of lead characters. While Wu has appeared in over 20 movies it is the first for Golding. This story is about Rachel (Wu) as she accompanies her long term boyfriend, Nick Young (Golding) to Singapore for his best friend's wedding. Rachel is excited to go to Asia for the first time but is nervous to meet Nick’s family after she finds out he's a millionaire. Being Nick Young's girlfriend, Rachel deals with jealous socialites and worse, Nick's own disapproving mother.
Going into this movie I didn’t really think i was going to like it. I usually don't like watching movies because I get bored quickly or distracted . Throughout the movie I did laugh quite a lot as it was funnier than I expected. At times it did get a bit boring but was enjoyable because of the slow development of the plot. The actors portrayed believable characters, however,  think I would have liked to stay home and watch it on tv rather than paying to see it in the theater. I would give this movie a B, because it didn't meet my expectations, but it did make me laugh.

'Halloween' Classic Comes Back to Life

10/31/2018

Halloween, Its been some time since Michael Myers has been on a killing spree. Laurie Strode(Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Karen Strode(Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson(Andi Matichak) try to survive Halloween night in Haddonfield, Illinois with Michael Myers(James Jude Courtney) running around killing people once again. This mystery slasher film really gets the attention of the viewers right away. When John Carpenter’s Halloween theme song plays at the start of the movie you know, Michael Myers is back. After 40 years of being locked up in a mental institution Michael Myers finally escapes and is wanting to get vengeance for being locked up. The actor who played Michael Myers(James Jude Courtney) couldn't have played his role any better. He said “There’s a stealth efficiency to the way an actual trained killer works”. He once lived with a hitman who actually showed him how a killer doesn't waste time killing their victim. Michael Myers goes after the friends of Allyson sort of reminding the viewers how 40 years ago he did the same with Laurie and her friends.    Later in the story Laurie Strode is put face to face with Myers and they fight it out until she finally traps him with the help of her daughter Karen and her granddaughter Allyson. Overall, I would rate this movie a B+ because it delivered the suspense and the gore but I feel like towards the end they could've added just a bit more to the struggle between Michael and Strode. If you’re a die hard slasher fan I would recommend you watch it because you’ll definitely enjoy it.

Costa Mesa held its 4th annual art event, ARTventure filled with art, live music, and refreshments to celebrate the talents of local artists with an opening reception and awards presentation. The event is an family-friendly day full of live art entertainment, including musical, theatrical, literary, culinary, and hands on demonstrations. This ARTventure was held on October 5th and 6th, 2018, at the Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, by the Costa Mesa Cultural Art Committee highlighting Costa Mesa’s “City of Arts” motto.
The work of visual artists was displayed in various ways from paintings to drawings to photographs to sculptures. Over 100 different artists were featured at the event, along with young aspiring artists. Students from Costa Mesa High School shared their creations of clay plates, bowls, cups, etc. for sale, along with student demonstrations of how to use pottery wheels. Patrons enjoyed the art comparing various works to see which was their favorite out of hundreds of masterpieces.
There were relatively more adults than children along with some teenage volunteers helping out with exhibits. Live string music played while children and adults participated in making paper activities, painting, art, and crafts.

Art enthusiasts in Costa Mesa enjoyed a perfect chance to view local talented work  while introducing their kids to appreciate creativity through art as many aspiring artists thrived on admiration.

Checking the weather is essential to planning your trip to Knott’s Scary Farm. A person can love the rain as well as Knott’s Scary Farm. That being said a rainy night at Knott’s Scary Farm is the worst.
Scary Farm is an annual Halloween-themed event of Knott’s Berry Farm from September 20 to October 31. From my past experience, the first thing to notice walking in, is a  scary man sliding around on the floor in knee pads at the gate. On a rainy night, walking in is lame and boring because there’s a crowd of angry people trying to get refunds at the Information building. Note: there are no refunds. The rides will not be running in caution of a lighting strike. To be there unwillingly is no problem, there is nothing to be afraid of because the rain scares the monsters away. There are little to no monsters out on a rainy night compared to a regular night. This leaves the mazes and the arcade games they have as the only things to do.  At least an hour wait is the average amount of time the lines are in the rain. No jacket?, When it begins to rain they sell rain ponchos for only $3. A normal night consist of high levels of suspense and terror as a variety of scary characters roam the park throughout the night. Lines are also shorter on normal nights because the rides are open as well as the mazes. In the rain, I rate the experience a 6/10. The rain absolutely robs the experience of ‘Scary Farm’. A rating of 9/10 would be a normal night full of excitement. Tickets range from $44 to $60 depending on whether you go on the weekend or weekday. It starts at 7pm to 1am, or 2am if it’s the weekend.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z's On The Run II Blows Crowd Away

Beyoncé and Jay-Z started up their second tour OTR II (On The Run II). Their tour began June 6, 2018 at Cardiff, UK then brought their act to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on the 22nd and 23rd of September. Their stage took up half of the field and the audiences seats were filled with very little space to move.

Opening the show the sister act Chloe and Halle Bailey, upcoming singers and actresses on the spin-off show Grown-ish performed songs from their recent album The Kids Are Alright. The Bailey sisters got their start on Radio Disney’s NBT (Next Big Thing) TV show and since then have starred in movies separately and together such as the Disney movie Let it Shine. The Bailey Sisters were not the only artists to perform before the main act.
After Chloe and Halle left the stage a video appeared on the backdrop, slightly after the video ended DJ Khaled appeared on stage riding a scooter. Khaled then played his own music while debuting some more cameos such as Tyga, Flip Dinero, YG, Ella Mai, Tank, and Fat Joe who each performed one or two of their songs.. After the cameos another video appeared on the backdrop chronicling Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s romance/marriage and debuted their Gangster and the Queen storyline. They both performed a good amount of their own songs while still performing together, they performed for about 4 hours and yet the only early 2000’s song that Beyoncé performed was Resentment from her B’Day album. There were many costume changes and one of the back up dancers took a dance solo. The OTR II    tour ended on October 4 in Seattle, Washington. The concert was an all around success with high energy and an event I suggest experiencing.
