Captain Marvel, Captain of the Box Office

     Captain Marvel is a fantasy/science fiction movie that released in theatres on March 8, 2019. Actress Brie Larson plays the leading role of Carol Danvers who is Captain Marvel. The movie made $61.4 million on Friday, March 9th and is estimated to hit $156 million. The film takes the viewers back in the Marvel timeline to the story of Captain Marvel with Jude Law as Yon-Rogg and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. 
     If you are a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe than you will definitely enjoy this film. The movie was comedic, with special regards to Goose, a cat, or so we thought, who happens to be the most entertaining character. The movie was filled with intentional inside jokes and previous Marvel movie references. 
     An interesting scene worth reminiscing is the one where Goose scratches Nick Fury’s eye. As seen in a vast majority of Marvel films, Nick Fury is known as a character with an eye-patch and the cause is now revealed. Viewers are also brought to an earlier time of the Tesseract and witness it being apprehended by Nick Fury for the first time. The special effects were great, seen in so much detail with Carol’s powers. Captain Marvel is able to project energy out of her hands as seen in the movie but I especially like detail. For example, the vibrantly-glowing veins and the flames are awesome.  The plot of the movie was great as well. In the beginning she has dreams of an earlier memory of an enemy that obviously haunts her. The viewers later discover that the enemy yet to be her ally. Plot aside, this film would be great for a family night out because it’s for all viewers. I give this movie solid B due to my personal believe that there should’ve been more battles to show off Captain Marvel.
