Dumbo, a 2019 live action film inspired by the 1941 cartoon film. The new movie takes on a slightly different storyline with some similar scenes from the original film. The movie revolves around a circus called the Medici Brothers. One of the main characters Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) also known for his roles in S.W.A.T., Dead Man Down, and The Recruit is the father of two, Joe Farrier (Finley Hobbins) and Milly Farrier (Nico Parker) who after coming back from war was put on elephant duty by Max Medici (Danny DeVito) the owner of the circus. who played roles in Matilda, Space Jam, and Batman Returns.
The Farrier family goes into the elephant train car and realise that baby Dumbo was born. The Circus thinks Dumbo is a hideous elephant because of his massive ears. Max Medici (Danny DeVito) doesn't want the public to know about the elephant but Rongo (DeObia Oparei) had already released a paper about it. For the next Medici brothers show they have Dumbo in a baby carriage and the whole act goes horribly wrong when dumbo ends up being made fun of. Later on they bring dumbo out for another show and he's supposed to put out a fire to save a monkey from a burning building. Dumbo ends up stuck on the burning building, he jumps off and shocks audience by flapping his ears and flying around the circus. Vandemere (Michael Keaton) hears about the flying elephant and wants to add him to his own circus DreamLand. He doesn't end up succeeding because the Medici Brothers Circus frees Dumbo and his mother into the wild.
For a live action film the effects were really good. I was surprised at how well the actors interacted with the animals. The two Farrier kids Joe Farrier (Finley Hobbins) and Milly Farrier (Nico Parker) were phenomenal actors for there age.
I would rate this movie an A because it wasn't just a remake of the first 1941 film, but had its own storyline and and was a live action film. If you're a fan of Disney movies like The Lion King and Bambi I don't see why you wouldn't go see Dumbo you'll definitely enjoy it.
