On September 27, 2019 the Estancia Eagles faced off against the Laguna Beach Breakers in a non-league contest at Laguna Beach High School. The final score was 3-49 points in favor of Laguna Beach.
During the first quarter, with 2 minutes and 41 seconds left, Laguna Beach had scored 6 points points, and were leading 6-0. The score stayed the same throughout the quarter.
During the second quarter, with 6 minutes and 46 seconds left, Laguna Beach scored a touch-down. Putting them up 14-0. Afterwards, Estancia High School made a big stride across the field, but ultimately turned it over with Laguna Beach taking the ball and scoring another touchdown. With Laguna Beach up 21 points and Estancia still had 0 points. In the last 28 seconds of the second quarter, Estancia made another long stride across the field, but when they were about to score, they were tackled short of the goal line, by one of the Laguna Beach football players. In the last 2 seconds of the second quarter, the Estancia Eagles scored 3 points. In the third quarter, 8 minutes and 27 seconds left, Laguna Beach scored another touchdown. This caused them to have 29 points and left Estancia with 3 points. Laguna Beach continued to score throughout the third quarter. Hitching a score of 42-3.
In the 4th quarter, one of the team members from the Estancia football team got injured, but quickly made a recovery. At the end of the quarter, with 3 minutes and 38 seconds left, the Laguna Beach football team scored the last points of the game. This left the final score at 49-3, for a Laguna Beach win. Many of the students felt crushed and shocked. “It was a blow out, I don’t know what happened,” said Andrew Camberos-Gomez. Even some of the Laguna Beach students were shocked by what was happening during the game. “I’m surprised we’re winning because I remember last year you guys beat us by a lot,” said the drum major from the Laguna Beach band.
Next week’s football game will be on October 3rd between Estancia and Calvary Chapel at the OCC football field.
